The “last frontier” as it is often described has fascinated the human kind since the beginning of its existence. Numerous researches and experiments have been conducted in an attempt to provide an answer to the question if there is any kind of life form in the universe. Some speculations belong in the realm of some of the most imaginary novelists while at the same time what previously seemed unattainable is close to becoming a reality. Funding such ambitious projects, though, is a not so easy a task. In our effort to explore the universe, several projects have been undertaken and a few more are underway. However the questions still remains, and that is “is it worth exploring what is out there when our own world suffers? Shouldn’t we just focus on what is more important which is the current environmental issues of our own planet?” With their projects, students look at the possibility of space travel from the perspective of future travellers themselves as well as a researcher whose work functions dually: a) is it worth investing all those funds and b) what benefits are we to gain from such projects?
