THE VIETNAM WAR – SOCIAL INCLUSION THROUGH LITERATURE –Primary 6

“..the Vietnam War was over and it was OK to like peace again…”

History teaches values and helps us come to a sound understanding of the past that tells us a lot about the problems we now face. War was one of the topics we touched on this year while reading “Bridge to Terabithia” by Katherine Paterson. The plot is set in the 1970s and there are references of the Vietnam War. Primary 6 students researched this turbulent period of the American history and discussed the consequences of this war on the American society, the influence on music and the reaction of the youth which led to the birth of anti-war hippie movements.
