Value-based education – 3rd class of Junior High School- “Respect for Freedom of Speech”

During the academic year 2014-2015 several topics that made the headlines were brought forward for discussion and further analysis in class amongst students of 3rd class of Junior High School. Such topics touched upon freedoms amongst people such as Freedom of Speech, and Freedom of Expression as was the case with the satirical newspaper “Charlie Hebdo” and the terrorist attack that took place there. A need was, thus, borne to express how they feel about terrorist attacks on both humanity and freedoms amongst people. With their power point presentations the students addressed such current issues while raising questions and referring to human rights on a global scale. Here are some of their projects that we as educators consider to be representative of their views on global issues affecting all of us irrespective of colour, race, religious beliefs, sex, political views and so on.
