Meeting Shakespeare through Music - Primary 1

As 2016 was the Year of Shakespeare, Primary 1 students worked on the Shakespeare Lives schools’ pack created by the British Council in partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

We chose one of the most famous Shakespeare’s plays “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” from which we extracted different themes and ideas. From the beginning of our school year, we experienced all these issues through CLIL Social Inclusion, Art and Craft, Role-Play, Sports, Music.

In our Music Step Programme, we talked a lot about Shakespeare and the musical instruments of his age. We experimented with sounds by trying to imagine how we could put music in the different scenes of the “Midsummer Night’s Dream” play and we learned a song that will always remind us of the wonderful music journey we had back in time thanks to Shakespeare`s Anniversary.

Enjoy our little orchestra!
